Characteristic of the grasses-garden are lots of different species of grasses, which together can create a beautiful and harmonical composition.
Bamboo is part of the family of grasses, too, and there are countless variaties, which will thrive very well in a moderate climate. A grasses-garden won't fit very well into the habitat of a big city. A certain wideness in view is necessary to achieve an eye-catching effect.
The grasses will present their beauty the best way possible, when flagstones or gravel is used for pavement. Some strategically positioned trees around the grasses will emphazise the impression of wideness and space.
The grasses are planted together in large groups, in order to achieve a natural looking result. A pond, bordered with swamp-grasses, could be a magnificant addition. Aroud the pond orchids, gillyflowers and other wild swampflowers could grow, to give some color and to create a natural look.
There is no or little usage of pottery or ornaments, in order not to disturb that natural look.
A grasses-garden needs very little maintanence. Some weeding and cutting most of the grasses back to the groundlevel in spring will be sufficient. Watering will only be necessary in very hot and dry summers, - so this type of garden can be left alone for weeks or even months.
